A new method for examining the Maxwell equations is proposed: a complete system of projection operators is constructed which makes possible the invariant expansion of any vector into alpha components. The derived formalism is used to provide a convenient representation of the conductivity tensor in a magnetoplasma. A scalar equation for the electric potential is obtained which is equivalent to the complete system of Maxwell equations for monochromatic fields in a moving magnetoplasma. A general solution is obtained to the problem of the generation of fields in a homogeneous magnetoplasma by a plane acoustic pulse.
