Epsilon Coronae Austrinae is a single-lined W Ursae Majoris system, the spectrum of which can be described as F0 V. The photometric observations suggest that the two components should be of similar spectral type. The radii, however, probably differ by at least a factor of the order of 2, and the masses must depart markedly, in one or both stars, from the main-sequence values that correspond to the spectral types involved. The mass ratio may be several times larger than the average for W Ursae Majoris systems. There appears to be some kind of variable activity in the advancing hemisphere of the F0 V star that distorts the velocity curve and makes the value of e different in different cycles.
