We present preliminary results of modeling the parsec-sized dust shell around the Egg Nebula using a version of the 1-d radiative transfer code DUSTY which includes external heating of the dust by the interstellar radiation field. External heating by the interstellar radiation field and increased mass-loss towards the end of the AGB are both necessary for a good fit. Mass-loss episodes can be modeled as enhancements in the density distribution.
