A testing system has been developed at the Institut d'astrophysique spatiale with the Orsay synchrotron facility, in order to perform a full calibration of the EPIC spectro-imaging instrument, which is due to be launched on board the XMM satellite. Dealing with one of the most davanced devices among X-rays detectors using CCD technology, the challenge has been to find the more accurate techniques and real-time operating systems to achieve the calibration purposes.
