Spatial-temporal distributions of Joule heating in the high-latitude ionosphere in the summer and during equinoxes are obtained for different parameters of the interplanetary medium. It is shown that a constant Joule dissipation exists on which are superimposed additional sources of energy release controlled by the Bz and By components of the interplanetary magnetic field. The constant Joule dissipation provides for a heat influx of (2-4) x 10 to the 10th W into the high-latitude ionosphere irrespective of the season of the year.
