The general objectives of the program reported in this document were the implementation and support of research directed toward measurements of the energetic charged particle environment in near-Earth space. Specific objectives were the design, construction and calibration of instrument packages for the U.S. Air Force Satellites dmsp Flights Number 2, 3, 4 and 5 and P78-1, and field support for the same missions the study of the response, through computer and laboratory simulations, of existing proton-telescopes to the natural radiation environment the data analysis of proton data obtained from previous satellite missions finally, the preliminary study and design of a charged particle telescope.
