We present an analysis of the optical and far-infrared properties of a homogeneous sample of blue dwarf galaxies. The luminosity of the galaxies is parameterized in terms of their metallicity, size, and velocity dispersion. The environment of the galaxies is also searched for companions, finding that a large fraction of the sampled galaxies are truly isolated. The kinematics of the ionized gas is also discussed, as well as the history of the star-formation rate.
