We analyze the optical emission-line properties of a sample of low-mass (MBH<106 M&sun;) active galactic nuclei (AGN) observed with Keck and Magellan. These high-resolution, high S/N spectra contain a wealth of information about the structure and metallicity of the narrow-line regions (NLRs) for this unique class of AGN. In particular, we can explore the ionization structure and gas properties in the NLRs of these low-mass AGN. These objects are some of the only available analogs of primordial seed black holes, and so investigating their interactions with their surroundings could have important implications for the role of black holes in the early universe.
