The present analysis deals with the propagation of internal gravity waves in the upper atmosphere. These waves may be generated both by active meteorological formations (such as jet streams) in the troposphere, and such processes as geomagnetic disturbances and polar aurorae in the upper atmosphere itself. The direction of the waves is almost isotropic. There is no correlation between the wave amplitude and geomagnetic activity. From the results of the analysis it appears that internal gravity waves constitute the fastest resonance long-wave mode.
