In this work we suggest the use of Concept Maps (CM) as means to embed knowledge in databases as a possible overcoming of the intrinsic limitation of conventional data management. CMs, which contain operational schemes for multi-set data processing and analysis, can be organized in the database as an indexed set of metadata, which acts as a specialized expert system for the end user with no specific expertise and allows him to make an advanced use of the data by providing a guided decision support.
