I present near-IR photometry and spectroscopy of several embedded stellar clusters that we discovered using the 2MASS Point Source Catalog. I'll discuss automatic searches for embedded clusters, as well as the initial mass functions and characteristics of these particular clusters, located at a variety of Galactic environments and with a variety of ages. We find important systematic effects in the IMF determination, depending on whether individual extinctions are derived for each source. These systematic effects must be taken into account when comparing IMFs derived by different methods for different regions.
