New values for the elemental composition of the galactic cosmic rays from beryllium to nickel in the energy range 0.8 to 25 GeV/nuc are reported. In order to obtain undistorted spectra, a modification of the basic Cerenkov formula is used. The problem of combining momentum spectra, measured by different counters with different resolutions, is examined. In the experiment, three Cerenkov counters are used for the momentum determination: teflon, aerogel, block, and aerogel sand counters. A method in which the spectra are computed independently for all three counters for all particles is discussed. It is shown that for Be, the individual spectra given by the three counters agree poorly.
