Two types of payloads for auroral X-ray measurements are actually used at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Aeronomie. The 'standard payload' is employed for measurements of the omnidirectional X-ray flux and can be combined with other instruments (photometer or electric field probes). The 'directional payload' serves to determine the geometry and movement of X-ray sources. In the present paper the electronics of these payloads are described with special emphasis on newly developed subunits. Brief updated descriptions of the other subunits are included.
