We discuss the ability of the present Atomic and Molecular Data line Model (AMLDM) te{dub:06} to describe the few available data bases dealing with molecular electronic spectra. We consider the case of molecular oxygen, a very basic simple molecule, for which the spectroscopic properties of a same electronic system are displayed in two different data bases, using separate nomenclature. We show that the present situation is far from convenient for a potential user without a detailed knowledge of molecular spectroscopy and that some homogenization is highly desirable. The VO tools, combined with an improved AMLDM, could help both producers and users of atomic and molecular data.
