Trends in electron impact broadening and shift within spectral series are assessed using various theoretical calculations for Li I, Na I, C IV, and Si IV. Facile predictions, based on use of upper state ionization potential as the appropriate variable for representing atomic structure (Purić et al. 1991), are used to compute electron impact broadening parameters for astrophysically interesting resonance and off resonance lines of Fe I to Fe iv. Additional data are also predicted for several C IV and Si IV higher members of the investigated spectral series.
