The RHESSI hard X-ray imaging and spectroscopy data provide an unprecedented opportunity to investigate the properties of the particle distributions responsible for the observed hard X-ray emission. Photon inversion and forward-fitting techniques have enabled the participants of the RHESSI electron acceleration and propagation working group to make significant progress in understanding the temporal, spatial, and spectral nature of accelerated particle populations in solar flares. In this talk, I will summarize what we are learning about the role of electrons from RHESSI and highlight some ideas from work in progress.
