In light of data from very-high--energy (VHE) experiments, we see that VHE photons can be produced in astrophysical sources. Since blazars have been identified as possible producers of VHE photons, many of the sources of VHE photons are extragalactic. However, as VHE photons propagate through the extragalactic background light (EBL), they interact with the soft photons and initiate electromagnetic cascades of lower energy photons and electrons. We investigate the effects of these cascades on the extragalactic gamma-ray background. Specifically, in the case of blazars, the electromagnetic cascades result in a flux suppression at higher energies and a flux enhancement at lower energies.
