Expressions are derived for all three components of the curvature tensor in Newman-Penrose (NP) formalism for the case of gravitational perturbations of the Kerr metric, and compared with the expressions derived for the NP components of the perturbed electromagnetic field. Use is made of the formulae derived by Cohen and Kegeles (1974, 1975) for a scalar potential in a space-time in which at least two principal null directions of the Weyl tensor coincide, and the resulting NP components are expressed in terms of known functions. A new derivation is also presented for the Teukolsky-Press identities for electromagnetism and gravitation.
