Review of upper-atmosphere electric field measurements inferred from the motion of rocket-released artificial barium and strontium clouds. The results obtained are shown to be consistent with those reported by Foeppl et al. (1967, 1968) in that the order of magnitude of the electric field at an altitude of 220 km was found to be about 1 mV/m, and its direction was south-east in the evening.
