The irregular variation of the earth rotation, atmospheric angular momentum and sea surface temperature, sea level and the thermocline of the tropical Pacific were analysed from 1962 to 1985. The results show that the six El Niño events correspond to the irregular decrease of the rate of the earth rotation in this period, and that the El Niño events happened before the irregular variation of the earth rotation in most cases.
