The EGRET telescope aboard the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory has completed the all-sky survey program (phase 1, 1991 April 15 to 1992 November 17) and the following observation program (phase 2, 1992 November 17 to 1993 September 7) in high-energy gamma rays. Analysis of the EGRET data for the region of the sky to the south of the Galactic latitude b = - 30^deg^ reveals the presence of 13 active galactic nuclei (AGNs) as point sources and four additional point sources that have no obvious counterparts in other wave bands. The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), the nearby giant spiral galaxy NGC 253, and 47 Tucanae as a millisecond pulsar candidate for EGRET also fall into this region of the sky. EGRET has detected LMC, but not SMC, NGC 253, or 47 Tuc. Many of these EGRET results have already been published along the way when EGRET observations were carried out. We use now all the available data from phase 1 and phase 2 pointings to update further the positions, spectra, and time variability of these detected EGRET sources and the photon-flux upper limits for some undetected important objects to the south of the galactic latitude b = - 30^deg^. These updated EGRET results as well as the previously published results for this region of the sky are now collected together and presented in this paper in a coherent way. The summary results of the EGRET telescope for other regions of the sky will be published separately in other papers.
