The Space Interferometry Mission (SIM) relies on an evenly distributed set of well-understood stars in order to determine the interferometer baseline during science observations. While pre-launch observations of these stars will attempt to remove candidates with poorly understood photocenter motion due to undetected companions, some of these stars may remain in the final catalog of grid stars. We study the effects of these stars on the SIM grid, and methods by which they may be detected from the SIM data and techniques which may be invoked in the grid data reduction so that we may "redeem" these problem stars. This work is funded by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology under a contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
