The existence of stable retrograde satellite orbits at a large distance from the heavier of two massive bodies is investigated numerically within the framework of the circular plane restricted three-body problem. Stability properties and the characteristic of the family of single-periodic symmetric orbits are analyzed for 15 different values of the parameter mu between 0.5 and 1.0. The boundary of the stability zone for general nonperiodic orbits is determined for values of mu ranging from 0.60 to 0.999.
