Propagation effects such as refraction and scattering severely affect the observed characteristics of type III and type II radio bursts. We will describe a Monte Carlo simulation code, which can be used to study the effects of refraction due to spatial variation of the solar wind density and scattering by the random density fluctuations on observed characterstics of the interplanetary type II and type III radio bursts excited at the fundamental (F) and second harmonic (H) of the electron plasma frequency. We statistically model the source of these bursts either as a disc with uniform distribution of emission, or as a Gaussian with the peak emission at the center with intensity varying as a Gaussian along the radius of the disc. We statistically model the directivities, source sizes, and intensity profiles of the radio emissions emitted by such finite sources and compare with the observations obtained simultaneously by the spacecraft 'A' and 'B' of the STEREO mission with varying angular separation. We also provide the corrections due to refraction and scattering for the directions of emissions which can be very useful for the direction finding and time delay of arrival (TDOA) techniques.
