The effects of partial frequency redistribution on the formation of spectral lines have been studied. The angle-averaged R(II), R(III) and R(V) types of redistribution with isotropic phase function have been considered. Transfer equation with plane-parallel geometry is solved in isothermal atmospheres. For an atmosphere with constant thermal sources, the frequency-dependent source function S/L/(R/V/) lies below S/L/(R/III/) but above S/L/(R/II/) in the line wings.
