Numerical data for the relative variations of the atmospheric and spectroscopic parameters of the radiative transfer equation are computed from spectral representations. The analysis is applied to the lower stratosphere in the FIR, where many high-resolution measurements have been made. The data show that the concentration of the minor constituents in the medium is a measurable quantity but, to make the determination, other radiative transfer parameters must be known with a 1 percent precision, at the time the measurement is being made.
