A new experimental approach provides good visualization of the fluid capillary motion along the rectangular groove corners. A hydrodynamically controlled rewetting model, which considers the capillary motion of both the bulk fluid front as well as the fluid along the groove corner, is presented to predict the transient rewetting distance and the corner motion length at initial plate temperatures lower than the rewetting temperature, and has been found to be in relatively sufficient agreement with the experimental data. It has been found that gravity has considerable effects on capillary motion of fluid along the rectangular corners. It is concluded that for the condition investigated, namely, non-evaporating surface tension driven flow along rectangular grooves under microgravity conditions, the capillary bulk front consideration is sufficient and there is no need to consider fluid capillary corner motion for rectangular groove surfaces.
