The first main part of the thesis describes the characterization of a prototype camera for the FIRST experiment PACS at MPIA in the frame of the ESA-FIRSA study. As in the FIRST satellite, the FIRSA-camera has been driven at cryo-temperatures between 1.6K and 2.0K. It has been shown that the responsivity (9 - 15A/W), dark current (<104e/s) are within the specifications for PACS. Using a 137Cs radiation source the influence of ionizing radiation on the Ge:Ga detectors has been shown. In the second main part investigations on the interactions of cosmic particle radiation with infrared detectors in FIRST are described. Therefore inorbit calibration data of the ISOPHOT C200 detector system have been evaluated. The signal generated by cosmic particles has been extracted for statistical investigations. Using a Monte-Carlo model the particle induced energy spectra in the C200 pixels has been reproduced. The model has been adapted to the conditions in PACS so that particle effects in the PACS cameras could be simulated. Additional simulations of differently shielded detectors have been done.
