Scientific paper

Events with a pair of direct muons produced at a single point were
observed with the underground muon detector beneath the calorimeter of
the Tien-Shan cosmic-ray facility. It is shown that the experimental
results can be explained by assuming a sufficiently hard spectrum and a
large charm-production cross section.
