Several ions with non-zero nuclear spins have hyperfine structure radiative transitions in the mm range that might be of astrophysical interest. Here we have calculated the total effective collision strengths with resonance contributions included for excitation of H-like 14N and Li-like 29Si to the upper hyperfine structure levels of their mm radiative transitions. Earlier analogous results for Li-like 57Fe (Zhang and Sampson 1999, Sampson and Zhang 1997), and the background, or non-resonance, contribution for other ions of possible astrophysical interest (Zhang and Sampson 1997) are also included for comparison. It appears that resonance contributions are generally very important for Li-like ions, but rather unimportant for H-like ions. This work is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy. Sampson, D.
