The effects of tidal stream impacts on accretion disks in x-ray binary systems are studied emphasizing the effect of the impacts on the rate of mass transport in the disk. We use the VH-1 hydrodynamics code to model three-dimensional accretion disks assuming an isothermal equation of state. Our initial simulation, run without a tidal stream, shows a prominent two-armed spiral shock wave, which, after a short time is disrupted at smaller radii by instabilities in the disk. Running the simulation with a tidal stream results in a stream driven spiral shock wave accompanied by myriad other wave modes. Comparing these simulations we find an increase in both α and the rate of mass transport with the addition of the impacting tidal stream. I would like to acknowledge the National Science Foundation for funding this research.
