The phase-time characteristics of echo signals from meteor trains were analyzed to study the influence of thermal diffusion on the drift velocity of the trains. It is found that under the effect of thermal diffusion, the echo signal amplitudes are damped due to radial expansion of the meteor train and a decrease in the effective reflecting length of the first Fresnel zone in direction of meteor motion.
