Several papers have been published on the effect of sine sweep rate on the response of a one-degree-of- freedom system. These results can be adapted to the context of real-time modal identification techniques applied during qualification test campaigns to improve satellite vibration testing. They can be used before test to find a good compromise for the sweep rate as a function of the expected modes, and after test to estimate the corrections to be done on the extracted modal parameters for a given sweep rate. This paper deals with the quantitative impact of an exponential sweep rate (in octaves/minute) on the modal parameters to be extracted : frequencies, damping values and effective parameters.
