A theoretical study of the evolution of weak ionospheric irregularities in a strong electric field is presented. It is shown that the multiple reflection of Alfven waves (generated by the motion of the irregularities) from magnetically conjugate regions leads to the fragmentation and size reduction of the spatial structure of plasma-density disturbances. Under certain conditions, this is accompanied by a considerable increase in disturbance amplitude.
