Pre-dawn enhancement of the OI(6300 Å) line at Boston, U.S.A., (L
= 3.1) appears to be primarily due to an increase in F-region ionic
recombination. A residual component due to direct excitation of atomic
oxygen by magnetically conjugate photoelectrons is probably present. The
upper limit on this component is about 20 Rayleighs (R).
