A theoretical analysis shows that large-scale irregularities in the electron density distribution in the solar corona can have a substantial effect on the propagation of a radio signal in the circumsolar plasma. The model developed here can be used to determine the parameters of large-scale coronal-ray-type irregularities on the basis of the radio-occultation sounding of the solar corona.
