Monte Carlo calculations were performed to investigate the source(s) 10 to the 14th to 10 to the 19th eV gamma rays arriving at earth-based detectors from Cygnus X-3, the Large Magellanic Cloud and Centaurus A. The calculations were carried out with observed cross-sections to project the associated photon-photon pair production interactions and the inverse Compton scattering by electrons and photons of the cosmic 3 K background. Ater assuming that the gamma rays were not affected by magnetic fields, an attempt was made to deconvolve the spectra to obtain the spectra of the sources. Only Cen A could be confirmed as a gamma ray source. However, greater refinement of the spectral data is required if any of the radiation observed is to be concluded to have started the journey as gamma rays.
