We present a new sample of about 4576 eclipsing binaries in the LMC discovered by the MACHO project; we study orbit circularization in the sample, showing that evolved system have mostly circular orbits whereas systems on the main sequence have both circular and elliptical orbits and we argue that this is a genuine effect, not a statistical artifact; finally we discuss future work on this sample and similar samples currently being defined for the SMC and the bulge.
