Explicit expressions for Raman and Rayleigh scattering cross-sections
are presented. For Rayleigh scattering, an analytical expressions is
given, describing the attenuation of continuum and line radiation by a
cool stellar wind. Also, the fluorescence mechanism in which Fe(+)
absorbs the 1548 A component in the C IV 1550 A doublet is examined.
