Using the techniques pioneered by our group, we propose to discover the first echoes around the historical Galactic supernovae SN1181 (3C 58) and SN1054 (Crab), and to locate additional echo complexes around SN1680 (Cas A) and SN1572 (Tycho). To date we have found echoes from the Cas A supernova of 1680 and the Tycho supernova of 1572 teRest08b which have led to the first accurate classification for Cas A. With the first discovery echoes for 3C 58 and SN1054 we will be able to obtain precise spectroscopic classifications and improve on the less certain radio/X-ray classifications of the supernova remnants. For the Cas A and Tycho SNe, we will find new echo complexes which will allow us to probe different orientation directions onto the supernova explosion to determine the uniformity of the spectral properties of what are most likely asymmetric explosions. The positions and distances to the echoes will provide accurate distances to the supernova and also map out the dust structures near to the line of sight to the supernovae.
