We present first results from comprehensive simultaneous X-ray and optical observations of the Z source Sco X-1 performed with the RXTE satellite and Argos on the McDonald Observatory 2.1m telescope. X-ray coverage was obtained nightly for 12 nights with optical overlap for 8 nights, thereby giving full phase coverage of the 18.9 hour orbit. We also examine underlying causes of the X-ray spectral behavior of Sco X-1 by mapping X-ray and optical correlations as a function of position on the Z-diagram.
