The sensitivities of various alternatives of the orbit suggested for the GEO-IK satellite to perturbations of the earth's gravitational field, and the radial orbital inaccuracies, are studied as a function of errors in the harmonic coefficients of the geopotential. Results are obtained for the along-track, cross-track, and radial-track component perturbations using Kaula's (1966) analytical first-order theory. It is concluded that, even with recent accurate earth gravity field models, the inaccuracy in the semimajor axis often exceeds the 0.1 m limit.
