The evolution of spatially inhomogeneous models of the universe is examined at times for which the characteristic size of the inhomogeneity significantly exceeds the size of the event horizon. A mathematical model of an isolated spatial inhomogeneity nested in Friedmann space is presented in the context of density wave theory. It is shown that the presence at the quasi-Friedmann stage of purely spiral motions leads at t greater than 0 to the appearance of potential motions, induced by the redistribution of matter in the inhomogeneity.
