Scientific paper

We study the structure of low-lying states of 13C with a microscopic cluster model. The second 0+ state of 12C, which is known as the Hoyle state and is important for astrophysical reactions, has been clarified to have dilute α-cluster structure. On the basis of the α-cluster model, we discuss the effect of one valence neutron in 13C on the α-cluster configuration of the Hoyle state. For these purpose, we investigate the iso-scalar E0 transition probability from the ground 1/2- state to this excited states.
