It is shown that an alpha-omega dynamo in a supermassive noncollapsed
rotator of 100 million solar masses and radius of 10 billion km can give
rise by a coronal emission mechanism to X-ray luminosity up to 10 to the
45th ergs/sec with magnetic field of 10,000 gauss. The model might thus
account for the central powerhouse of active galactic nuclei.
