Globular Clusters, Dynamical Evolution, Stellar Evolution
Scientific paper
This work is an important step towards a more realistic model of globular star clusters: For the first time it is possible to model a star cluster with a realistic particle number and a realistic description of the mass loss due to stellar evolution and follow its dynamical evolution. With the method described in this work one can use a realistic mass spectrum for the modelling of the stellar evolution without losing the biggest advantage of the used gaseous model: the speed. From the density information of the model colour-magnitude diagrams for different cluster regions are generated using a special projection scheme. After relatively short time one can observe the effects of mass segregation leading to a high number of stellar remnants in the cluster core and many low mass main sequence stars in the outer parts.
