The time scales for compact aggregates of solid matter to condense from loose local clumps of dust grains in a protostellar cloud are determined by numerically solving the equations describing the clump dynamics. The results indicate that dense aggregates of dust can form in a protostellar cloud by a process which has nothing to do with gravitational instability effects. Thus, dense bodies can form from micron-size particles.
