We have investigated the effect of solar wind on the magnetopause shape and location, based on the data set of Prognoz 7, 8, 10 satellites (124 crossings). Calculations are presented for the correlation coefficients between the location of the magnetopause and the velocity and particle density of solar wind, the Bz component, and the amplitude of IMF. Assuming that the magnetopause shape can be described by the paraboloid of revolution, the relationship was obtained between the distance to the magnetopause and the solar wind pressure. It is shown that the magnetopause shape is asymmetric and is different from the paraboloid of revolution.
