The general problem of investigating multiple stellar systems is formulated. It is shown that only three stars can be considered physical systems whose components are dynamically connected. Results are reported from an experimental study tracing the dynamical evolution of the triple system ADS 9909, which shows that this system is certainly physical and probably dynamically unstable.
