The author discusses dynamical models of open star clusters mainly based on the N-body simulations of Terlevich (1983, 1987). A series of self-consistent models with up to 1000 stars of different masses has been studied. Specific effects appropriate to open clusters include the galactic tidal force for a circular orbit, instantaneous loss due to supernova events, and the irregular force of interstellar clouds. The simulations yield information about cluster life-times and the behaviour of different masses, which may be compared with observations.
